Learn by Doing

The heart of Northeastern University is “experience,” and backing this up is their #1 national ranking for co-ops and internships. A co-op is no simple internship. Students are placed in the workplace, full-time, for six months. During that time, they are paid to work real jobs, which could mean anything from running experiments in a lab, serving in the governor’s office, or storyboarding the next animated classic.

To demonstrate to students what that really looks like, I was asked to create a brochure highlighting how seven students engaged with the co-op program to learn through experience, how it fit into their college timeline, and how it set them up for a successful future.

The brochure leaned into Northeastern’s core brand language, but pushed further by pulling more from our secondary palette to give each student’s spread its own unique theme. Our photographic voice is immersive, and this was enhanced when we used macro imagery, alluding to each student’s journey, mixed with line art to convey that their story is still taking shape.
