In 2021, USF finished construction on its new maker space- The Innovation Hive. Decked out with state-of-the-art tech like 3D printers and laser cutters, the space was intended to support students from all areas of study.
To honor the donors who helped fund the new space, the Development team wanted to create a unique gratitude sign. I was tasked with concepting and designing the sign in collaboration with a San Francisco environmental graphics firm.
The base is an aluminum frame that emulates a hive structure, with an organic, flowing nature. Glass hexagons of different colors and depths extend out from the frame, with the names of the donors. In addition to that, there are plaques filled with imagery that allude to the many studies the Hive supports: engineering, fine arts, biotechnology, and environmental sciences.
Work done as part of my role as a Senior Visual Designer at the University of San Francisco.
